Hey there people, I'm freshly back from sunset and tacos with my husband. The way he just toasted my grumpy ass was beautiful, profound, humbling... and kinda the whole point. (Stick with me; this is not an idealized, aspirational fluff piece). (It's also not short. If you're not feeling the deeply personal essay, and just want to sign up for The Lovers Collective at this last possible hour, everything you need to know – including cost, structure, call schedule, all the goods-- is right here on this website.) If you're into personal exposé, read on. We have been through it the past 8 months. Like, THROUGH it. In ways I didn't expect and (as they were happening), certainly did not prefer. The truth of things unsaid building to a crescendo, the power struggles deep underground in our dynamic erupting volcanically, all the things we vaguely suspected might need to be worked out as we said those hopeful vows a year and a half ago... fast-tracking themselves to be SORTED. And, in the midst of feeling up to my eyeballs in personal relational content, I've never felt more clear about my work in the world. In fact, the idea / inspiration / verve and vigor to launch The Lovers Collective gathered like a storm in my being... just weeks before our relationship began to move through its own intense weather pattern. 'They' told me this, I know. I said "haha yes of course, sure, cute," but the deeper I go into bringing my soul's work forward, the more I see, they were not kidding... Ohhhhh. As in, you don't get to become skillful at something and then act as a master on high, all handled. You get to continually plow your own body into the growth edge, humble forehead to dirt, and alchemize the shit you are eating into gold. Many months ago, when I wrote the first-ever email about The Lovers Collective, these words poured out of me: On your deathbed, I wager you will remember the quality of your relationships-- how they moved you, touched you, challenged you, shaped you. The transcendent moments where your hearts found one another and made the whole ride worthwhile. I also put my money on connection as the most sure-fire way to bring depth and beauty to your human experience (while you're still alive). Not wealth, not status, not great real estate, not sexy travel, not even physical health. Messy, raw, enlivening connection with other human beings. It's the sauce. In a world that is increasingly removing the healthy friction of human-to-human relating, I am a firm believer that nothing matters more. From my lens, the challenges of our modern world stem primarily from deep disconnection. And if I'm here to help (which I believe we all are), this is how. I am a relational alchemist. Devoted to transforming what looks leaden and stuck between humans into gold. I believe in courageous intimacy as healing balm. I also believe it is a skill. Like any competency we want to develop, it requires practice, messy experimentation, willingness, devotion, humility and practice. Did I mention practice?" I laugh now, seeing how I was calling myself to the mat. You wanna practice, woman? Get in the dojo and wrassle. We did this crazy thing when we got married in January of 2025 – we called our whole community into a deep af ceremony, literally exchanged our blood and intentionally merged our ancestral lines / karmic paths / etc, and really sealed the deal. So now we are getting to learn what it looks like to walk all the way into union as spiritual partners. And The Lovers Collective, as my emerging body of work, is my humble mapping of all I've learned about relationship, INCLUDING (and requiring that I not take lightly) everything I'm learning in real time. Right now.
Which brings us to tonight. There is a moment, I've found, when you stay with something long enough – accepting yourselves and one another, refusing to fully enmesh or fully abandon, honoring your commitment – you are gifted with a breakthrough. It feels like the sun on your face, like all your hard work being rewarded, like the sprout piercing the soil into a whole new above-ground reality. It's been here for us this last few days. Almost scary to trust, this feeling of a new level in our dynamic. Tonight my husband managed to be totally unfazed by the contraction of my heart, the frazzle and stubborn, the push-pull of my child consciousness. Instead, he took me to dinner, looked dead in my eyes and toasted the depth and commitment of my relational work in this world. All I'm doing, all I'm creating. Blue eyes piercing mine: "I. SEE. YOU. I LOVE. YOU." I melted. And dangit, I get it. We are accepting one another. My thing is intimacy. Actually, let's go further than that, it's transparency. And something I don't often see other teachers / guides / coaches admitting is... how their work is working THEM. It's tender, right? We still live in a world where perfection is currency. But that's not my way. So, let me be clear: I know The Lovers Collective is game-changing, because bringing this work forward is changing the game for me. It's a container for a certain kind of human. I trust if that kind of human is you, you'll feel it. Thanks for letting me be in the real. It's an honor to practice speaking this way. Big love, |
